Brittney and Travis' journey began long before they even realized it—two lives unknowingly intertwined as young students at Punahou School. Brittney, a spirited 2011 graduate from Kaimuki, and Travis, a determined 2012 graduate from Aiea, walked the same halls, shared the same spaces, and even sat in the same Japanese class.

Travis fondly remembers watching Brittney completely absorbed in her Dragon Ball Z episodes on her laptop—while he, ever the diligent student, paid attention in class. Brittney, on the other hand, recalls seeing Travis here and there on campus but has absolutely no recollection of him being in her Japanese class. Let’s just say Japanese wasn’t exactly her favorite subject.

Life took them in different directions, and over a decade passed before fate decided it was time for their paths to cross once more. One serendipitous evening during the 2022 holiday season, they found themselves at the same table, celebrating the engagement of their dear friend, Bridesmaid Jenna Shintaku. Sparks flew—whether from destiny or the twinkle lights of the holiday season, neither could say for sure.

Travis knew he had only a short window before returning to Washington State, where he worked as the lead mechanical engineer on aircraft carrier combat systems. Taking a leap of faith, he invited Brittney for drinks on New Year's Eve. Brittney, with the gentle encouragement of her friends (now her bridal party), agreed.

That night, something undeniable clicked. What began as a simple New Year’s toast soon turned into a love that defied distance, time zones, and even the thought of taking another bar exam—because let’s be honest, Brittney was not about to do that again.

And so, with love leading the way, Travis made his way back home to Hawaii. Today, they stand on the brink of their greatest adventure yet—one that begins with "I do."
